Join Skagit Land Trust to help remove English ivy from beautiful maturing forest right on the edge of Anacortes! The Fidalgo Bay Graber Conservation Area is situated on the side of Hwy 20, downstream of Whistle Lake. This area provides natural filtration of water entering Fidalgo Bay. It also provides habitat for a variety of native wildlife including bald eagles and other raptors, coyote, deer, downy woodpecker, flying squirrel, garter snake and northwest salamander. At this recently acquired property staff and volunteers will work to remove an infestation of invasive English ivy, ensuring this property remains healthy and dominated by native Western red cedar and Douglas fir trees instead of invasive plant species into the future. SLT will provide tools, gloves and refreshments. Please make sure you wear clothing appropriate for the weather. The site can be very muddy, so please wear rubber boots or contact our Stewardship Americorps member at meaganm@skagitlandtrust.org to arrange to borrow a pair from the SLT for the events. Parking is very limited and we will plan a carpool from Anacortes. Check in closer to the event for carpooling details!
