Sexual Assault Awareness Month is here - that means that it's time for Denim Day! Every April, SDVSAS staff and advocates don their denim for this fantastic awareness campaign to support survivors in Skagit County. Denim Day is a campaign that honors survivors of sexual assault during Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April. The campaign began in 1999 after a sexual assault conviction was overturned by the Italian Supreme Court. The justices involved felt that, since the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped her attacker remove them, thereby implying consent. We invite our Skagit community partners, donors, and supporters to join us. Encourage your staff, friends, and family to participate and help us raise awareness about sexual violence in our community. We'll even include a social media shout-out for participating businesses! Email Amanda Cronin at amandac@skagitdvsas.org with your denim picture before 5/5/22 and and we will post your pic up on the SDVSAS social media platforms. Businesses who participate will be tagged and given a chance to explain why they support SDVSAS and ending interpersonal violence in our lovely valley. Rock your denim at work and raise awareness for survivors - it's a win/win! More info on Denim Day: https://www.denimdayinfo.org/ Facebook Event: https://fb.me/e/9b846VFIU
