    Deadline extended  for very small Mount Vernon businesses to apply for grants worth up to $10,000 each


    MOUNT VERNON --  The deadline for Mount Vernon very small businesses impacted by COVID-19 to apply for $10,000 grants has been extended to Tuesday, June 23.

    Businesses eligible to apply for the grant must have five or fewer employees, be located within city limits, and have a total household income below a set threshold, as indicated on the application.

    A total of $100,000 in grant funds are available. The grant is provided by the City of Mount Vernon and is administered by EDASC.

    Eligible grant expenditures include rent, utilities, PPE, other supplies and wages. The grant shall not be used for construction or any other ground-disturbing activities.

    EDASC will prioritize applications based on severity of the impact the business is facing, including from being forced to close by government-mandated closures, social distancing measures or illness. Awards will be approved on a case-by-case basis and are dependent on the availability of funds.
