• DOES YOUR GROUP OR BUSINESS GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO BE CROWNED THE NEXT CHOW CHAMPION?

    July 29, 2020
We are challenging service clubs, organizations and businesses in Skagit County to STUFF THE BUS!

Helping Hands has partnered up with Skagit Transit to STUFF THE BUS for our C.H.O.W. program! The event will take place on Saturday, August 8th at The Cascade Mall from 11 AM to 3 PM. It will be a drive-thru food drive, allowing our volunteers and our community members to receive this generous gift and keep everyone safe.

Our Children's weekend meal program, C.H.O.W. (Cutting Hunger On Weekends), has seen a 90% increase since the pandemic began. With over 1,900 children each week receiving this service it is more important than ever to ensure we have the resources to feed our community.

The group that donates the most pounds will be crowned CHOW CHAMPION. The Chow Champion will receive a fun trophy and bragging rights, plus lunch for their team. We will also feature the winning group in a 1/4-page color ad in the Skagit Valley Herald, along with recognition on Helping Hand's Facebook Page and other social media channels.
We are collecting only the following items, which directly supports CHOW:
    • Peanut Butter
    • Macaroni & Cheese
    • Kid Friendly Soup (with pop top openings)
    • Cans of Chili
    • Canned Tuna/Canned Protein
    • Granola Bars
Your organization can also collect money to count towards pounds! For every $1, it counts as 25 POUNDS! So a $10 donation equals to 250 POUNDS OF FOOD!

You can start today collecting food and money now, and then bring it to the food drive at the Cascade Mall on Saturday August 8th. We will have a scale on site to weigh food donations that come in from our organization groups. We are also able to take donations at the warehouse during the week as well, which we will count towards your final pound total.

We hope your business can participate in this great way to support the youth of our community! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email Nichole Long at: nichole@helpinghandsfoodbank.org or call at: (360) 630-7562
