• Finalists announced for 2019 Women of the Year Banquet

    MOUNT VERNON -- The Skagit Women's Alliance and Network has announced its finalists for 2019 Women of the Year, Lifetime Achievement and Rising Swan awards.

    The finalists for Women of the Year include Skagit Valley College Faculty Claudia Avendano-Ibarra, 4H Program Director Dorothy Elsner, Mount Vernon Downtown Association Executive Director Ellen Gamson, Brigid Collins Skagit Program Director Veronica Lopez, Lazy Squirrel Nut Farm Co-Owner Beth Meenaghan, and Community Action Campaign Development Director Joan Penney.

    Four of the finalists are Leadership Skagit graduates, including Elsner, Gamson, Lopez and Meenaghan. Penney and Avendano-Ibarro are regular speakers for Leadership Skagit as well.

    The finalist for the Lifetime Achievement award is Pat Grenfell. Rising SWAN finalists are Skagit Valley YMCA Youth Services Director Randi Brauer and Community Action Donor Development Manager Yuliya Rybalka.

    The Women of the Year Banquet is set for Oct. 17, 2019.
