    January 22, 2020
With a lot of talent, energy, and grit, the SVC Cardinals men’s basketball team has been on a major roll this season. The team is at the top of the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) with an amazing 18-0 record. In the January 15th NWAC Coaches Poll, SVC is ranked #1.
Among the many Cardinal Highlights from this year’s team, Freshman Guard Anthony Iglesia has made a huge impact on the court and was selected as the NWAC Adidas Player of the Week on January 6th. Originally from Rochester, New York and McQuaid Jesuit High School, Iglesia averaged 17.0 points and 4.5 assists to lead the third ranked Cardinals to four wins, including a 30-point performance on 64% shooting to defeat top-ranked Clackamas on the road in Oregon City. He also added six rebounds and 10 steals earning Most Valuable Player honors at the Clackamas Holiday Tournament. "Anthony made big play after big play in our win at #1 Clackamas and was named MVP of the Clackamas Holiday Classic," said Skagit Valley head coach Carl Howell.
