For over 30 years, the Burlington Healthy Community Coalition (BHCC) has brought together adults and youth for positive change. The current mission of the BHCC is to support and promote healthy environments and opportunities for all youth to gain skills and receive positive recognition in order to prevent and reduce youth substance use. The BHCC is a partnership of schools, families, and community members representing the diversity of the broader Burlington area. The Coalition’s core values of equity and inclusion inform the priorities of the group and encourage participation from people with different backgrounds to come together on important issues. The next BHCC meeting is Tuesday, January 4 from 3:00-4:30 pm on Zoom. Anyone with an interest in protecting youth from substance use and helping the entire Burlington community thrive is invited to join. Those who speak Spanish, parents from within the Burlington-Edison School District area, local business leaders, partners in substance use disorder prevention and treatment, and representatives from faith-based communities are especially encouraged to lend their voices to the Coalition’s work. No prior coalition experience is required!
