Sedro Woolley, WA–North Cascades National Park Service Complex will open a 60-day public comment period June 12 to gather input that will inform a new frontcountry planning process for Ross Lake National Recreation Area and adjacent areas along State Route 20. Submit your thoughts online or by mail by August 11, 2025.
Public input will play a vital role in helping identify meaningful solutions to protect park resources, improve access, and ensure a positive experience for all. The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking feedback from the public on what they value most about visiting North Cascades, what barriers may hinder a high-quality experience, and what strategies or ideas the NPS should consider to better serve current and future visitors.
“As more people discover and enjoy the North Cascades, we have a responsibility to ensure their experience remains high-quality while we protect the resources that make this place so special,” said Wade Vagias, acting superintendent of North Cascades National Park Service Complex. “We want to hear from everyone—whether you visit once a year, once a week, or simply care about the future of public lands.”

The planning process welcomes feedback from all interested voices. Your feedback will directly inform how the park continues to serve visitors while conserving the unique natural and cultural heritage of the North Cascades area.
