Program Dates:
Oct. 1 – Future of Tourism Visioning Workshop (La Conner)
The Visioning Workshop provides a platform to help communities identify their sense of place and coalesce ideas to build toward future success as a sustainable tourism destination. This session will be a “think tank”-style workshop, uniting everyone in conversation about a shared vision for the region’s future, and begins identifying innovative solutions that sustain and enhance the region.
Oct. 21 – Enhancing Nature-Based Outdoor Recreation Experiences (Sedro-Woolley)
This workshop focuses on sustainable and meaningful nature-based experiences – from wildlife viewing and guided fishing trips to water recreation and trail systems. We’ll explore examples of how other destinations embrace nature-based tourism and leverage outdoor recreation as a means for economic development.
Oct. 22 – Developing Sports Tourism (Burlington)
Increasingly, communities are leveraging sports tourism as a key economic driver to connect communities and drive demand during the shoulder seasons and off-peak days. This workshop will foster new ideas and strategies among tourism partners to position Skagit County as a destination for sporting events, from facilities development and event planning to marketing and community engagement.
Nov. 12 - Cultural Tourism: Telling the Story of Our Place (Anacortes)
Calling all artisans, makers, and creatives! Let’s collaborate to elevate and integrate cultural tourism throughout Skagit County. Together we’ll strive to support this sector of the local economy and maintain and celebrate different parts of our region’s unique identity.
You can find additional information about upcoming Skagit Valley Tourism Workspace community workshops on the program’s website. All events will be produced by Crosscurrent Collective in partnership with the local steering committee, Skagit Tourism Bureau, and State of Washington Tourism.
