• Volunteers Receive Free Entry to the Skagit Valley Highland Games & Celtic Festival

  • Mount Vernon, WA – The Skagit Valley Highland Games & Celtic Festival is happening July 12th and 13th at the Skagit County Fairgrounds, 501 Taylor Ave, Mount Vernon. Volunteers who sign up for a four-hour shift receive two free weekend passes to the Games, a $60 savings. Shifts include checking tickets and welcoming attendees at the gates, selling Highland Games merchandise, checking IDs in the beer and whisky gardens, directing traffic and parking, and setting up or tearing down the event. For more information or to sign up for a shift, visit celticarts.org/highland-games

Produced by the Celtic Arts Foundation (CAF), the annual family-friendly event is a Mount Vernon summer staple and almost entirely volunteer run.

“This event could not happen without the support of volunteers,” said Cayley Schmid, CAF Executive Director. “Between setting up, tearing down and helping sun-up to sun-down on Saturday and Sunday, volunteers spend hundreds of hours making the Games a reality.”

Volunteers of all ages and ability are welcome and invited to participate. Volunteers under 18 must have a guardian with them. It’s an opportunity for groups to volunteer together, including families and corporate teams. Teams are encouraged to wear branded clothing during their shift.

Tickets are on sale now and prices start at $25 for a one-day pass for an adult, and $30 for a weekend pass. A family or group of four one-day pass is $55, or $65 for the weekend. Reduced ticket prices for students, seniors, and military. Children under five are free. Purchasing tickets in advance is strongly encouraged to allow easier access to the event. In addition, tickets to the whisky tasting event are limited and often sell out in advance of the Games.
