The Smoke & Grill BBQ Competition brings championship-style barbecue to Berry Dairy Days in Burlington, Washington.
Each year, BBQ teams set up at Skagit River Park and fill the festival with smoky flavor, friendly competition, and plenty of community energy. Festival visitors can enjoy the sights, smells, and excitement of barbecue while exploring one of Berry Dairy Days’ signature attractions.
During the 2026 festival, pitmasters served public samples, prepared competition meats, and helped make the 89th Annual Berry Dairy Days a delicious celebration. Looking ahead, Berry Dairy Days returns in 2027 for its 90th annual celebration. We will update future BBQ details as plans are finalized.
2026 Smoke & Grill BBQ Highlights
The 2026 Smoke & Grill BBQ Competition welcomed BBQ teams from across the Pacific Northwest to Skagit River Park & Playfields.
Throughout the weekend, competitors prepared meats, sides, desserts, and creative BBQ-inspired bites. Guests sampled a variety of flavors and experienced one of the most delicious traditions of Berry Dairy Days.
Together, the teams, volunteers, supporters, and festival visitors created a weekend full of food, competition, and community celebration.
Public Sampling at Berry Dairy Days
Public sampling gives festival visitors the chance to taste BBQ creations from participating teams. Samples may include smoked meats, side dishes, desserts, sauces, and specialty items.
Because each team brings its own style and flavor, the tasting experience can vary from year to year. That variety helps make the Smoke & Grill BBQ Competition such a fun and memorable part of Berry Dairy Days.

About the BBQ Competition
The Pacific Northwest BBQ Association, also known as PNWBA, has sanctioned the Berry Dairy Days Smoke & Grill BBQ Competition.
Competitors prepare entries in traditional BBQ categories, which may include chicken, pork ribs, pork butt, and beef brisket. Certified judges evaluate each entry for appearance, taste, and tenderness.
Together, the competition and public sampling create a unique experience for BBQ teams and festival visitors.
