ESSB 5814 Updates - Oct. 29, 2025
Released from the Department of Revenue, Washington State. To support the ongoing implementation of Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill (ESSB) 5814, we’ve published new and updated guidance to clarify the retail sales tax changes that took effect Oct. 1, 2025. This additional guidance was developed based on feedback and questions from taxpayers.
Informational flyer – A one-page overview of the changes and steps businesses can take to start collecting sales tax.
Awareness video – A short video (under 2 minutes) that highlights the change and can be shared on social media or other platforms.
