The Skagit Chamber Alliance (SCA) is a collaborative organization made up of the six Chamber Presidents and CEOs representing Skagit County. The Alliance meets regularly to discuss the needs and priorities of local businesses. As a result of these meetings, the SCA established a Joint Government Affairs Committee to advocate on behalf of all businesses in the county, providing a unified and consistent voice on key policy issues.

Skagit Countyās Chambers of Commerce stand united in advocating for these legislative priorities to ensure our businesses and communities thrive.
Investing in education ensures a capable and competitive workforce for the future. Skagit County businesses depend on a well-educated workforce to remain innovative and meet industry demands. Current challenges include insufficient funding for early childhood education, limited career pathways for students, and the burden of unfunded mandates on local schools.Ā
Key Challenges:Ā
- Inadequate support for trade education and college pathways limits career opportunities.Ā
- Early childhood education remains underfunded, affecting workforce readiness in the long term.Ā
- Lack of state accountability in funding allocation leaves schools unable to meet mandates.Ā
Proposed Solutions:Ā
- Advocate for increased funding for trade schools and apprenticeships alongside traditional college programs.Ā
- Support state-level grants for early childhood education centers and workforce scholarships.Ā
- Require transparent reporting on the use of state education funds to ensure mandates are adequately supported.Ā
